Description

ABOUT THE EVENT

A story from the life of Emma, which may happen to each one of us. Or, are you so sure it could not happen to you? Everyone has certainly found themselves in an “on the edge” situation. And this is exactly where Emma is right now. Follow her struggle to find herself.

A hallucinogenic ride through the inner world of the actress Emma, who, despite being rather successful, has succumbed – somewhat unexpectedly – to the alluring seductions of the bohemian world full of psychotropic substances and alcohol. One night during a performance this alluring and unexpected force becomes stronger than her and she ends up in a rehab. What will she go through? Will she acknowledge her problem? And does she really have one, or are there problems all around her, in our world where she is just a victim? “Why am I in this place? I am completely normal!” her first reaction would be. However, the expectedly straightforward journey to finding herself is complicated by group therapies with others in the rehab. Will Emma come to terms with her new life situation and find her way back to the “normal world”? The question is whether there actually is any normal world or whether life is a mere illusion and Emma is a ghost in it. A ghost seagull.

The play People, Places & Things was highly successful already during its first stating in the London National Theatre in 2015; the year after it moved to London West End, and in 2017 it became a success in New York. Since then it has been staged by the most prestigious European theatres, including e.g. the famous Berliner Ensemble. The Czech premiere was in 2000 in the Klicpera Theatre in Hradec Králové.
